Anti-Bullying School Assemblies

Through Another’s Eyes

Snakes-N-Scales’ Anti-Bullying School Assemblies look at the subject from an entirely different direction than any other program, using animals that are often misunderstood and feared, like snakes, spiders and alligators. We try to see through their eyes at ourselves and learn to understand that the point of view of a person, or an animal, is key to understanding. Bullying is often born of dislike; and dislike comes from misunderstanding and fear. If understanding is created and fear eliminated then much of the bullying goes away.

As a child Bill B. used to love stories like these, (actually he still does.) They are adventurous, exciting and full of daring characters, close calls and best of all. animal monsters! But stories and the movies, often do not portray the animals anything like they actually are, leaving many people with wrong impressions and ideas. —We do that with people too!

Our  School Assemblies About Bullying prevention are offered for younger children than most. Our Anti-Bullying School Assemblies, are easily accepted, fun, informative and do not use confrontation or scare tactics, since we learn about the animals and through them, ourselves.

Anti-Bullying School Assemblies

Learning to understand, rather than to fear, is key in BOTH learning about animals AND people. That’s why our Anti-Bullying School Assemblies are appreciated by children, and they work!

Our Anti-Bullying School Assemblies are specifically designed for Elementary Schools and are run by instructors that are experts in introducing animals to children. We feel it’s a natural stepping stone from discussing differences in how animals can be understood to how people can understand each other. Compassion is always a common link for animals and people. Topics covered are important themes dealing with people, connected back to an animal.

Spiders are feared and hated by many, yet they are mostly inoffensive creatures toward humans. The tarantula looks different, strange, even scary, but he’s not doing that on purpose! That’s just you!– All those hairs are sensors to learn about the world, which is very helpful when you’re only 5 inches long!

1. Don’t Judge a Book.…How someone looks is never a good way to decide if you’ll like them.

Frogs are so very different from us, they see the world in ways we would trouble to even imagine, but most people love them! And how many Anti-Bullying School Assemblies include frogs? Just ours!

2. Different Doesn’t Mean Bad…The fact that other people like others things than you doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy each other’s company!

The Snapping Turtle will never be anyone’s buddy, yet they are surprisingly willing to let people swim in their ponds with no problems. They’re bad attitude is a defense against large creatures…like you! You could learn that much, certainly! No, he doesn’t want to be friends! There are people like that too, but we can still respect them and let them have their say and their space!

3. Getting Along Doesn’t Mean Liking, nor does it have to…There are sometimes people that difficult, or even unfriendly, but you can still accept that person for who they are.

Alligators are often used as a stand-in for monsters in movies, yet they care for their young, are interested in their surroundings and harm humans less often than deer, dogs or cows! And we guarantee they don’t show up much in anyone else’s Anti-Bullying School Assemblies.

4. Find Things Alike with Others …We can be surprised sometimes at how much others like what we like if we give them a chance to show themselves to us.

Pythons are big and can be scary, but our Burmese Pythons have had hundreds of safe interactions with children because they have learned not to fear us. Now we reverse the field and teach us not to fear them. Our Anti-Bullying School Assemblies take the entire matter and turns it on it’s head!

5. Give Others a Chance to be Friends… You may have to be quiet and let the other person talk, or choose them for your team to be able to get to know them well enough to be their friend.

See how silly and foolish we all look when we learn that the scary and the weird are really just like us.
